【Lectures】

Agriculture and Food department, from Japan Finance Corporation Kochi office
The chief

Mr. Kenichi Kobayashi

Agriculture is “easy to be influenced by climate and their prices are unstable”, and “It takes longer time for growers to make profit by investment”. It is very important for our country to strengthen the domestic agriculture and to rise added values of agricultural products, and many supports and actions are taken by government. However, for us, as the grower side, such measures seem too complicated and rather unfamiliar. Mr. Kobayashi introduces us those aids and support institutions from growers’ point of view. We hope his lecture will bring you some opportunity to start “something”.

Many flower varieties appear and disappear, and many interesting items are always created following needs of the time. Even in the arrangements which lilies have been most used, other flowers started to replace instead of lilies nowadays. What is needed for the bright future of lilies? Mr. Suzuta, as one of the leaders of flower industry, will talk about our new age of lily .

Mr. Evert Van Zanten
Cut flower growers’ success is relied on the quality of bulbs. Bulb suppliers are always considering and trying to improve the quality and to satisfy the needs. However, living things such bulbs may get sick and are injured, just as people. Sometimes unexpected quality problems may happen. P.F. Onings is the biggest bulb exporter in the world.
