Long winter has finished finally,It’s became the spring atmosphere.
Here in Kochi is also cooler than usual. I report you about general situation of Holland crop, southern hemisphere bulbs etc.

□　 NL crop 2011
　Dutch climate last year was low sunshine and temperature in summer, and autumn was warm, sprout development was shorter but wider. Please refer “report of trip to Holland” (November 23,2011) for the details.

Now we glow the new crop aim to flowering at Lily Festa, general sprout out-coming looks firm impression, which normal to better (better than crop 2010) is same as expectation at November.

　
　On the other hand, more Virus symptom is seen than recent years, which is not worried PV, but LMoV with mosaic.　
Growth in our testing is earlier than of exporters, so we noticed problem first and asked exporters to check, then some lots became stop to delivery already.
Beside to just import, quality check is our important task as well.
Autumn in Holland was warm and plant dying was later though, some of growers stopped spray against insect at normal calendar was concerned reason of matter.
(We hope this matter and reason are communicated and warned for crop 2012.)

　For the PlamV, Eliza test started from last year, and many planting stock and mother bulbs are checked. Some bulb production company reduced acreage to 60%, due to thrown away infection lot.
　Import figure of NL crop 2011 to Japan is expected to be 95-97% compare to last year, also we hear less stock position of Japanese importers.

Under-mentioned is table of NL crop 2011 monthly import figures from December to March (so called new crop).

The % mentioned in right lane with bold is not monthly comparison.
Import of Dutch new crop starts from December with Asiatic, Longi etc, and % is comparison from December to that month in total, which is mentioned in( )

　This shows earlier import, more delay.
Already planting plan of Dec-Jan in general is switched to SH bulbs, but also February approx 10% behind (delay or decrease), this tendency is expected continues to next year too. It’s one of reason we advise you secure SH bulbs for planting in February.

90.8% in February means 4,295,326 decreased. It’s not completely same as planting quantity decrease, but certain influence is there.

If SH 2011 increased to fill up, we could keep flower production, but as we reported on September 5,2011, LA & Asiatic increased 800000 pcs, Oriental & OT increased just 140000 pcs, so quantity of flower from winter to early summer will be not much.

Sometime, mood of “too much or flood” was created, but actual amount at demanded times and other days were not enough.

SH crop 2012
Result of questionnaire to exporters about SH crop 2012 sales to Japan was as follow. Please refer with quantity of 2011.

If NL crop 2011 decrease 3%… 116 millions times minus 3% ＝3.48 Millions.

Our SH sales from 2009 by color is following.

After 2010, white (share of Siberia is high) is decreasing, and flower price looks stable.

We see this tendency in the order for 2012 crop (influence of high oil price started etc), so forcer installed air conditioner (heat pump) as alternative heat energy has advantage.

Let’s go to Holland study tour. May 27 to June 3rd.
　We restart study tour to Holland again. First half of schedule is to visit breeders mainly and check the newest variety like just named this year.
Flower quality in Dutch mild climate with special rich circumstance for exhibition can create the quality, which not often seen even in Japan, will inspire you natural possibility of Lily.
At the second half of schedule, we study exporters job by visiting Onings test house, Van Zanten breeding and mother bulb production etc, after that also refresh at Antwerpen in Bergin. Last day is to Floriade 2012, which is hold every 10 years.
According to website of Floriade, there are Japanese booth introduce the Japanese flower culture of past, now, and future.
We normally see Lily in main, but how about to forget dairy work and feel other flower and plants?

Lily Festa seems very interesting! June 6 to 10

Lily Festa is 6th times already, like child start going to elementary school.
Number of variety increased even more than last year,now in adjustment to make all 473 varieties flowering at once (practically impossibly difficult!)
Theme of this year is “Assemble,enjoy,and deep it”
We have succeeded to accept cooperative lectures from many direction of business every year, and we get opportunity to receive the big man this year.
Don’t miss it, the speech by leading person in funeral business which we are very interested, but don’t know much.
Also 2 auctions we often talk about will give us lecture, so rather interesting lineup for lily forcer.
We are honor to receive and hold such lectures in our event for you.

The other challenge we make is constructing 3m high Lily Tower. We would like to present how to use Lily for big scale like Keukenhof Lily parade (It fades out as place for new variety competition in recent years though.)
